I've got a CO MZ tag also. I've been shooting Federal BOR Lock 270's over the past couple of months. They shoot great with 777/2fg (85 gr by wt.) and BH-209 (80 gr by wt.). The bullet seats very easy in my CVA Optima - almost too easy. Western Precision irons.

I'll be there for the MZ deer hunt this fall. I'm eavesdropping on this thread. Only 25 total deer tags, but 175 elk tags. To avoid all the elk hunters, should I just stay off the top (like on the divide) or is that where the deer will be early season?

Unit 21/30 MZ deer for me. Had way more points than necessary.

My son & I hunted with them this past October in Unit 61 from their Stuart Cr. camp. I highly recommend them. I need to get my hunt recap and pics posted up here on MM. Local deer rut is on in SE Alaska and I've got 3 tags left.

I had 8 points also. Surprised I didn't draw 125 deer in the NR special. No lower-48 tags for me this year.

I ended up applying last nite. Went for a 3rd season deer tag. Figuring on 2 pt minimum creep. Have 3 pts above what it took to draw last year. We'll see how bad it really is.

Not yet - my son drew a sheep tag for the early Delta (DCUA) unit. His hunt is the early season - 15 days. I have 40 days for my unit. Will be talking to Meekins this week.

I figure I have a 1 in 7.4 (13.5%) chance of drawing a tag. This after $8k in NR app fees. 4% for Oryx 0.5% for Ibex 3.0% for Elk 1.0% for Deer 0.15% for Sheep 5.0% for Pronghorn

Put close to $7k on the CC today as a NR. Sheep, elk, deer, prongy, ibex and oryx. Can't win if you don't play the game. If nothing else, I get ~7k in airline miles. Haven't played the game in NM since 2013.
