My hunting buddy had a shitty hip replacement years ago and he's fine climbing mountains, dressing elk, pulling heavy loads and carrying stuff...but he can't tie his damn boots! Bending is a real problem for him so I've been tying and untying them for him. But I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and how you handled it??? Gotta be "slip on" or even "zip-up" hunting boots out there somewhere....

Have him look into tactical response boots, like the military or security forces use. Lace up fronts to adjust sizing and tension, then side zipper for easy and rapid on and off. All my Security personnel swear by them, and they spend 12 hours per day in them with 40 pounds of gear on!!!

These are made by Muck boot company.
Something like this may be an easier option.

The guides in South Africa wore these kinds of slip on boots and they really liked them. I tried a pair, made in Australia, I didn’t like how tight they fit me, so I don’t wear them much but…….. he might give something like these a try.

Has your buddy had a 2nd and 3rd opinion on the suspect hip replacement? If not, everything else is likely a bandaid. Better boots can certainly help disguise the problem and provide for a temporary assist and give comfort.

He had the hip replacement and 2nd surgery. The bone cracked where they hammering in the new "joint" connector and subsequently they put a wire band around the bone to keep it from splitting further :(
