I totally understand. I bit the bullet when they were half what they are now. It was a tough pill to swallow back then. I can't imagine doing it now. My son is also needing a Stone but the $$$$is crazy.

I recently got a Hatch and while I've not tried it, but it appears that it will work for antelope in the future.

I have found that if I loosen all the screws to the same depth, then tighten a quarter turn each until they touch, it makes it so it won't come off with only one loose. I have a bunch of Leupolds and I've never had one fail, but that practice makes me feel better.
